Day 4 in Seville: Jewish Quarter Walk, Real Alcázar & a Steakhouse Dinner

😴 A Slow Start & a Walk Through History

We got a slow start to the day — so we took our time easing into the morning.

Once we were moving, we followed Rick Steves’ self-guided walking tour through Seville’s historic Jewish Quarter. The walk took us through winding cobbled streets, quiet plazas, and beautiful old buildings nestled between whitewashed walls and flowerpots. It’s one of the most charming corners of the city — peaceful, atmospheric, and filled with history.

👑 Exploring the Real Alcázar of Seville

After the walk, we made our way to the crown jewel of Seville: the Real Alcázar. This UNESCO-listed palace complex is a sprawling labyrinth of royal chambers, courtyards, and lush gardens, blending Moorish, Gothic, and Renaissance styles.

We started with a quick tour of the ground-floor buildings, taking in the ornate tilework, horseshoe arches, and decorative ceilings. Then, we moved on to the Royal Apartments upstairs, which require a timed entry and are tightly controlled.

Security was strict — no bags or phones allowed, and everything had to be locked away in secure lockers. We were each given audio guides and then escorted through the apartments by two guards. The upper floor was much quieter and more regal, filled with tapestries, period furniture, and artwork that gave a real sense of the palace’s continuing role as a royal residence.

🌳 Palace Gardens & Afternoon Wandering

After the apartment tour, we had time to explore the rest of the Alcázar’s sprawling gardens. These are truly vast — with fountains, maze-like hedges, tiled pavilions, and even a resident population of peacocks. The contrast between the cool stone interiors and sunlit gardens made this part of the visit especially memorable.

🥩 Dinner at Cathedral Steakhouse

We wrapped up the day with dinner at Cathedral Steakhouse around 7:30 PM. After all the walking and palace-hopping, a good meal was well-earned. The veal and pork dishes were excellent — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavour.

📝 Summary

From ancient synagogues and Moorish arches to royal history and sizzling steaks, Day 3 in Seville offered a perfect mix of culture, relaxation, and indulgence. The Real Alcázar alone made the day unforgettable.
