Day 5 in Seville: Italica Ruins, Torre Sevilla Views & Homeward Bound
🏛️ A Slow Morning & Some Last Explorations
On our final morning in Seville, we visited the Archivo de Indias — the Archives of the Indies — a majestic building housing centuries of Spain’s colonial documents. While the interior is fairly reserved, it’s worth a stop to admire the architecture and its historical significance.

From there, we wandered over to a circular plaza near General Castaños, enjoying a few more moments of sun before heading back to the apartment. After checking out, we stored our bags in a nearby shop to free up the rest of the day.

🚌 Italica Adventure (Almost Missed!)
We headed for the bus station on the #21 bus, but narrowly missed the bus to Italica — classic timing! Not wanting to lose the morning, we jumped in a taxi to San Isidoro del Campo, a peaceful monastery near Santiponce. Entry was free, and the site had a tranquil, reflective feel with plenty of rooms and cloisters to explore.

From there, we caught the local bus to Italica, the ancient Roman settlement just outside Seville. Walking among the ruins — including the large amphitheatre, columns, and original mosaics — was a fascinating way to step back in time. We spent a couple of hours soaking it all in under warm November sunshine.

🌇 Torre Sevilla: A Relaxing Finale
After returning to Seville, we headed once more to Torre Sevilla, this time making it up to the observation deck on the 37th floor. Entry was just €8, and it was well worth it. The views across the city were stunning — you can see the entire skyline, river, and distant hills. Best of all, the space had plenty of seating, and we stayed up there relaxing for over an hour.

🧳 Bags, Burgers & Back Home
From Torre Sevilla, we walked across the bridge back to the bus station, then caught the C4 bus to Torre del Oro, where we picked up our stored bags. We got lucky with timing — the EA airport express bus was just about to leave. £5 each, last two seats, and the weather had climbed to 23°C — not bad for November!
We arrived at Seville Airport with time to spare and grabbed a Burger King to split before boarding. The flight felt long, mostly because we were tired, but we landed more or less on time and made it home around 12:15 AM — exhausted but happy.
📝 Final Thoughts
This last day blended logistics and sightseeing, with memorable highlights like the Roman ruins of Italica and the peaceful height of Torre Sevilla. It was the perfect end to a warm, history-filled adventure in Seville.
